About

Melissa is an artist based in Northeast Ohio who finds her inspiration from observation and experience. A traveler at heart and an animal enthusiast, her journey in photography is an extension of her love for exploring and learning about cultures as well as connecting with nature and wildlife. The photographs she takes serve as a reminder of the diversity on this planet we all share. With an eye for detail and a desire for adventure, her work not only captures images but also tells stories—stories of places, beings, and moments that exist in only in that moment and through the images created.

She began taking photographs at a young age and vividly recalls attempting to develop and process film in a very small and understocked high school dark room with varying and sometimes unexpected results. After a long departure she returned to the rapidly changing world of photography in adulthood utilizing digital photography. Using her camera as a means to document, she has traveled to places both local and abroad and enjoys finding usual or unique places to explore. Through these experiences she has learned to ask lots of questions, arrive with an open mind and try not take the little things too seriously!

Beyond the camera, she enjoys spending time with her husband, their cats, and other wildlife around home, reading – particularly about mythology and folklore throughout the world, and delving into other artistic ventures.
